The purpose of the award is to recognise a club's relationship with, and responsiveness to, the football media.
The award is made to the club which FMA members believe:

- has a welcoming environment for media representatives
- responds efficiently and effectively to media requests
- provides accurate and timely information
- is perceived to interact well in traditional, digital and social media, and
- values a professional relationship between club and media in advancing the competition and football.
