Committee meetings 2012
Key points of discussion/resolution from 2012 Executive Committee meetings.
2 May 2012
FFA: A response was received from FFA's Kyle Patterson which will be distributed to members.
Key Dates:
* Our first Professional Development Seminar will be held on Friday 29 June in Sydney.
* FMA will present the International Players of the Year awards at the PFA Alex Tobin Medal on Wednesday 13 June in Brisbane. Nominees to be determined by Committee with appropriate input; voting to take place from 11 May - 1 June.
Trivia Night, February: A total of $4,945 was raised for CanTeen with thank you letter received.
Media Facilities: No update available as Michael Lynch has not yet had time to meet with AAMI Park management.
7 February 2012
FFA: Following on fromRay Gatt's report to the AGM in December, we still have not met with FFA. We are not continuing to pursue a meeting after trying unsuccessfully on multiple occasions in 2011. For this reason, unfortunately, our proposal for a coaches/analysts/media seminar on football strategy and tactics will not proceed for the time being as we are not able to obtain the input of the National Technical Director or National Head Coach.
Top 100 in 100: We had a fantastic response to our survey to nominate the 'Top 100 in 100' - that is, the top 100 players in the 100 years of organised football in Australia. More than 1,900 people responded showing the great interest in issues around our football heritage. In the next week or so, we will name the top 15 (not in order) and then name the entire Top 100 in June when the current crop of Socceroos are in town. Stay tuned!
Media Facilities: Following representations from several members concerning media facilities at AAMI Park, Committee members, Michael Lynch and Trent Dickeson will pursue these issues with AAMI Park management directly on behalf of FMA. We will report back after the May meeting.
Awards: The Committee agreed to two new awards in 2012.
A-League Club Award
The FMA A-League Club of the Year: an award which recognises a club's relationship with, and responsiveness to, the football media. The award is made to the club which FMA members believe has a welcoming environment for media representatives, responds efficiently and effectively to media requests, provides accurate and timely information, is perceived to interact well in traditional, digital and social media and which values a professional relationship between club and media in advancing the competition and football.
International Women's Player of the Year
For an outstanding Australian woman player who has played internaitonally, along the same lines as the International Men's Player of the Year.
Major Awards night
Date and location to be confirmed: but likely to be Wednesday 13 June 2012.
